1Isn't the fact that this is the OP's work laptop, so owned by the employer and using the employer's network, relevant? Doesn't that mean that any data on the laptop belong to the employer, and it's up to the employee to be careful not to use PII there? Is GDPR even relevant in this case?– terdonCommented yesterday

5@terdon It is not that simple.– ArnoCommented yesterday

3Being able to communicate personally (e.g. make personal phone calls form a factory floor or an office) has been upheld as a right and as a private conversation (free from employers monitoring) several times across EU in the past.– MavrikCommented yesterday

1@terdon That might be the case in some countries. However, the GDPR does not say "unless you are using your work laptop."– Stack Exchange Broke The LawCommented 16 hours ago

2@terdon It also does not say "unless you employ the data subject"– Stack Exchange Broke The LawCommented 15 hours ago

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. united-states), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
